Deuteronomy 6:4-5 - The Verses Project

Bible Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Posted April 10, 2012

4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might.

The music to this week's verse (known as "The Shema") was written by Chris Clark and recorded by Dustin Ragland. For more exploration/meditation, check out:

We pray this verse reminds you of a few things:

1) That apart from Christ, you're helpless to do what this verse talks about! You need to rest not only on his finished work, but also on the Holy Spirit to walk this verse out! God wants to change us in such a way that we are increasingly loving him more...

2) May this verse be fuel in your life to fight sin more by giving you a greater love & delight for God and not just resisting through dutifully gritting your teeth.

May we learn to love him holistically and not just with certain portions of our lives!
